Holaaaaa!!
Another great week here in the New Mexico Albuquerque Mission!! We had some really incredible things throughout the week and then a little bit of a rough weekend with just about everyone having to work on Sunday haha but it's like that sometimes and it just left us room for plenty of unplanned miracles!
Amigos
-Familia Medrano! I think I say this every week but they are the absolute best!! They fed us twice this week, and one night they even had us take food home to the other elders who live in our apartment. Really the kindness and generosity of people throughout my mission blows me away. But really the food is a secondary highlight because we had some awesome lessons those nights as well!! They decided they for sure want to be baptized and are going to do it together as a family but being they're a little funny about the date. They said some time in January which would be fantastic and I can't wait to watch on zoom!! Haha. We are going to try and nail down that date this week.
-Isaías y Fam. A new family we started teaching this week! The english speaking sisters in our area had yet another referral for us after meeting the mom and kids outside. We went over the next day because the parents only speak Spanish, and they let us right in! They said if we were there to talk about Jesus, we were in the right house. We sat down at the kitchen table and the dad was just like alright go ahead, teach us. So we start going and after about a minute he stops us to grab a pen and paper to take notes!!! It was pretty crazy. He has a ton of questions but he's really open and sincere. We are super excited to see how they progress!
-Crystal. Our dear amiga eterna surprised us with the sad news that she is moving to Chihuahua Mexico this next week!! It completely came out of nowhere but she said she needs to go down and take care of her in-laws. She said she will come back about once a month to visit her older kids who live here but we are super sad to have her go! I'm praying maybe she will run into Elder Beck down there and he can take care of her and her family! But one way cool thing with her though was we were able to meet her oldest daughter and explain some things so hopefully we will be able to start teaching her pretty soon!
-Liz and Nathaly. Our other amigas eternas here are doing great! It was Nathaly's birthday this last Friday and they had us over for dinner to celebrate! It was an absolute feast, between Liz making ceviche and her husband making some pollo Salvadoreño. Again, the food being secondary though because we were able to talk with Liz's husband about going to the temple open house in Arizona and it was so powerful to hear him talk about the Spirit he felt there!! Again, hoping to get him being taught consistently in the near future here too.
Domingo
As I mentioned Sunday was a little tough with getting people to church and lessons falling, a lot of things coming up for people. But we were able to have some cool miracles and found quite a few new people! Really cool to see what the Lord has in store when we think is going to happen doesn't actually work out.
Traslados
Other big things here this past week were transfers!! We are now in a trio life here!! It has been a little bit of an adjustment just balancing it all out but also a different power with 3 elders for sure! As always with change there's learning which is a great opportunity. Also with transfers, I was able to see Elder Hannemann!!!!! This was actually probably the best part of the whole week. I love him so much and it had been a few months since I had seen him so it was a blast to catch up with him for a little. No surprises, he is killing it and still an absolute beast. Last exciting event was I got my visa stuff submitted for Argentina so it is getting more real! Still trying to make the most of the time left here but super pumped to get down there as well
Pensamiento Espiritual
My spiritual thought comes from a verse from our Zone Council this last week. 1 Nefi 16:28 says "And it came to pass that I, Nephi, beheld the pointers which were in the ball, that they did work according to the faith and diligence and heed which we did give unto them." I have always loved the descriptions of the Liahona as they so easily can be applied in our lives. It gave them direction, according to their faith, diligence, and heed!! As we first set our focus completely on the Savior and diligently strive to follow Him, the Lord will guide us as we go. And in verse 29 explains more about that revelation and guidance that He will surely give us. Our responsibility is to put our Focus on Jesus Christ, act in all diligence according to that faith, and then listen to the guidance of the Lord.
That's (finally) it for this week. Love you all so much!!! Hasta luego!!
Amor,
Elder Jackson
