CARIDAD
TALKS
Eyes to see
Wait and trust in God and in His timing, because you can trust His heart with all of yours
Jesus Christ sees people deeply. He sees individuals, their needs, and who they can become...we can follow the example of Jesus and see individuals—their needs, their faith, their struggle, and who they can become.
Through His grace, He will bless us and increase our capacity. Through the power of the Holy Ghost, Christ will enable us to see ourselves and see others as He does. With His help, we can discern what is most needful
Try, Try, Try
Hal, when you meet someone, treat them as if they were in serious trouble, and you will be right more than half the time
President Nelson said that we could take the name of the Savior upon us and that we could speak for Him. When we speak for Him, we serve Him
Speaking for Him requires a prayer of faith. It takes a fervent prayer to Heavenly Father to learn what words we could speak to help the Savior in His work
My testimony is that the Savior is putting His name in your hearts. For many of you, your faith in Him is increasing. You are feeling more hope and optimism. And you are feeling the pure love of Christ for others and for yourself
You can pray with confidence for the Lord to lead you to love someone for Him. He answers the prayers of meek volunteers like you. You will feel the love of God for you and for the person you serve for Him. As you help children of God in their troubles, your own troubles will seem lighter. Your faith and your hope will be strengthened.
Becoming a Disciple of the Lord Jesus Christ
The attributes of the Savior, as we perceive them, are not a script to be followed or list to be checked off. They are interwoven characteristics, added one to another, which develop in us in interactive ways. In other words, we cannot obtain one Christlike characteristic without also obtaining and influencing others. As one characteristic becomes strong, so do many more.
A disciple strives to become as He is by keeping His commandments
Becoming like Him
Let’s consider how to begin a thoughtful, deliberate, and intentional pursuit of becoming as He is by gaining the very attributes of Jesus Christ.
A few years ago, my wife and I stood at the trailhead of Japan’s highest mountain, Mount Fuji. As we began our ascent we looked up to the far-distant summit and wondered if we could get there.
Over time the daunting task ultimately became achievable—step by step.
The first step on this path to becoming like Jesus Christ is to have the desire to do so.
our efforts to obtain these attributes will require heartfelt pleas for His divine assistance. If we seek these gifts to better serve others, He will bless us in our efforts
In order to see real progress, you will need to put in sustained effort. Much like climbing a mountain requires preparation before and endurance and perseverance during ascent, so too will this journey require real effort and sacrifice. True Christianity, in which we strive to become like our Master, has always required our best efforts.
Now a brief word of caution. The commandment to be like Him is not intended to make you feel guilty, unworthy, or unloved. Our entire mortal experience is about progression, trying, failing, and succeeding. As much as my wife and I may have wished that we could close our eyes and magically transport ourselves to the summit, that is not what life is about.

SOME TAKE AWAYS
What is Charity
Moroni 7:45-47
But charity is the pure love of Christ, and it endureth forever
if ye have not charity, ye are nothing, for charity never faileth
And charity suffereth long, and is kind, and envieth not, and is not puffed up, seeketh not her own, is not easily provoked, thinketh no evil, and rejoiceth not in iniquity but rejoiceth in the truth, beareth all things, believeth all things, hopeth all things, endureth all things.
Starts with prays of faith to have Charity
Moroni 7:48
48 Wherefore, my beloved brethren, pray unto the Father with all the energy of heart, that ye may be filled with this love, which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ; that ye may become the sons of God; that when he shall appear we shall be like him, for we shall see him as he is; that we may have this hope; that we may be purified even as he is pure. Amen.
Alma 37:36-37
36 Yea, and cry unto God for all thy support; yea, let all thy doings be unto the Lord, and whithersoever thou goest let it be in the Lord; yea, let all thy thoughts be directed unto the Lord; yea, let the affections of thy heart be placed upon the Lord forever.
37 Counsel with the Lord in all thy doings, and he will direct thee for good; yea, when thou liest down at night lie down unto the Lord, that he may watch over you in your sleep; and when thou risest in the morning let thy heart be full of thanks unto God; and if ye do these things, ye shall be lifted up at the last day.
Be obdient, keep commandments, and act on impressions. Be on an errand for the Lord. Requires work
Converted to the Savior
"Which he hath bestowed upon all who are true followers of his Son, Jesus Christ"
True followers. I think synonyms are, those converted to our Savior, as it says in our mission theme. Another is a consecrated missionary. We have to have Charity to be these kinds of people.
Chairty requires truly changing to be like out Savior, true Conversion. Our very nature.
Mosiah 5:2 Mighty change of heart
mighty change in us, or in our hearts
Alma 5:13
mighty change was also wrought in their hearts, and they humbled themselves and put their trust in the true and living God
Also side note, Mosiah 4 and Alma 5 say like the exact same thing, mighty change of heart and put their Trust in God continually
Mosiah 4:30. Thoughts, words, deeds focused on the Lord
30 But this much I can tell you, that if ye do not watch yourselves, and your thoughts, and your words, and your deeds, and observe the commandments of God, and continue in the faith
D&C 6:36 Again, every thought towards Christ.
36 Look unto me in every thought; doubt not, fear not.
Moroni 8: 16-17
Behold, I speak with boldness, having authority from God; and I fear not what man can do; for perfect love casteth out all fear.
17 And I am filled with charity, which is everlasting love
Alma 23:6 Never did fall away
as many of the Lamanites as believed in their preaching, and were converted unto the Lord, never did fall away.
If we have Charity then we are true disciples of Jesus Christ. If we are true disciples of Him, we will be converted to Him. We will have this pure love for Christ and all those around us. We will serve because we have pure love in our hearts.
