El Frío de Mayo

May 2, 2022

Hola hola!!
Feliz Mayo!!! I can't believe it is really the month of May. Partly because the time is going by too fast, and also because it's turning winter here and getting pretty cold!! But we had another great week and some exciting things as always.
Mijo
On Tuesday I went and picked up my hijo Elder Romero from the mission home. It was supposed to be a surprise of who's companion was who but he was the only Elder to arrive which made it pretty obvious which one was my companion. I feel so blessed to be training, but the reality is he came pre-trained! It really is like he has already been a mission for months. The Lord really has blessed me with great companions throughout my mission and yet again with Elder Romero. He is kind, hard working, obedient, has a powerful testimony and truly is humble in every sense of the word. It has been a lot of fun and we've already seen some definite miracles in the work, I couldn't be more grateful or excited.
Mayo en Argentina
- Yesterday was 1 de Mayo, el día de los trabajadores! Or day of the workers. Basically labor day haha. It was fun to see families out drinking mate and being together. Everyone makes Locro, this tradicional stew type dish with a ton of different types of meat. We were able to try some from a member and it was pretty solid despite my skeptism of the cow stomach it had.
- As I mentioned it is getting colddd here in the nights!! I can't complain too much since it's nothing like a good Utah winter, or Canda for the matter. But on Saturday night this week we were coming back home and we wanted for over an hour for the bus until I finally called it and took a taxi that miracously passed by.
Amigos !!
- Pedro. My man got confirmed this Sunday!! It was a great experience and especially good since he had to wait over a week since his baptism because we had Stake Conference last week. But he is solid and officially a member and received one of the greatest gifts possible in the Holy Ghost.
- Marcelo. My other man had a great week this week as well and got the Priesthood yesterday!! There is nothing that makes me happier than seeing the people we teach continue on the Covenant path. Baptism is absolutely essential and wonderful but it's only the gate. It was especially impressive of Marcelo because despite of his anxiety he was able to make it there all by himself since we were at the other ward. But he had a great experience, met a lot more members and we are hoping his family will start coming with him too.
- Sofia. She's awesome!! She has been keeping her commits to read and made it to church as well! The Book of Mormon, and the Spirit, truly is the key to conversión and having the power of the Savior in our lives. It's so incredible to see it change people and it's really starting to happen with Sofia. She's still working with her addiction but she's truly changing through the Book of Mormon.
- Veronica. Her and her sisters are doing good in their progress, but she is doing especially well. Elder Romero gave her a special "challenge" to read and pray about baptism every day for the next week so we are hoping she can have a date her soon!
- Brenda y Maximiliano. They are a part member familia we stopped by this week and were able to start teaching! Definitely a huge miracle, they are so awesome. Brenda has been a member since she was little but has been inactive for the past few years. Maximiliano, her compañero, isn't a member but is such a good guy and really interested in the gospel!! We stopped by one night randomly and taught a little, and the best part was when we went back a few days later they said they had read the Book of Mormon altogether every night since! It's early in the process but we are excited for them.
Pensamiento Espiritual
I have loved going back and studying the talks from this last General Conference and really have felt their power yet again as modern day revelation directly from the Lord. This week the talk of Elder Utchdorf was especially powerful to me and another one of his infinite airplane analogies has stuck in my mind. Just as a parked plane will never get of the ground we have to be constantly accelerating and acting to be able to have to lift we need. He talks specifically about Sacrifice and Consecration to the Lord to be diligently advancing. I love these two principles and have felt the Lord magnify and lift me this past week as I have strived to sacrifice anything not in the direction of the Lord and consecrate all the good of my abilities towards Him, in order to offer our whole heart, our entire soul, to the Lord. One last verse he sights and I just want to leave you all with is Omni 1:26.
"26 And now, my beloved brethren, I would that ye should come unto Christ, who is the Holy One of Israel, and partake of his salvation, and the power of his redemption. Yea, come unto him, and offer your whole souls as an offering unto him, and continue in fasting and praying, and endure to the end; and as the Lord liveth ye will be saved."
Que tengan una linda semana!! Les quiero muchísimo!!
Amor,
Elder Jackson
