Holaaaaa!! Crazy awesome week here in El Paso!!! Still stuck inside for a little but we had a heck of a week!!
First though, I don't know how but last week I forgot to mention that it's a Lone Peak reunion down here!! One of my best buddies Elder Hannemann and I are in the same district and even live in the same apartment complex so I've been able to see him a few times. So crazy!! Other crazy stuff is we live with another set of elders. One is Elder Klingonsmith, another Knight our age, and Elder Pratt who actually served in Córdoba for about 6 months. It makes for a fun time!!
Now about this week! We made a tonn of calls again but actually had some really good success from it!!
We had some awesome contacts that turned into lessons with a guy named Hector. He was super cool and has taken some lessons in the past. I don't know what was different this time but when we taught him this week he was just loving it, and we were actually able to put him on date to be baptized!! Fingers crossed for Dec. 3!! Please pray for him though because he's not in very good health and actually just got admitted to the hospital :(
Another person we met this week is Margarita!! She is an older lady we have been calling to answer her questions about the Bible and then teach her some of our lessons too. She's so funny though the other night we called to invite her to church and she just wanted to talk, about anything and everything! Then randomly she goes I have food for you guys come over right now haha we weren't going to say no so we went over and picked it up. She's hilarious and it was so nice to get out of the apartment. And she came to church yesterday, or got on the meeting zoom call, so dubs all around!!
I also finally tried my hand in some Facebook finding this week. It was pretty slow but I tried to get creative with it so I joined a buy and sell group for people here in El Paso and put up a post that I'm providing messages of peace, joy, and hope for the price of Free.99!! It had mixed reviews to say the least. Some people just thought it was funny, but one dude wasn't too happy about it so I ended up taking it down haha. However, I did start talking to one lady through Facebook this week who is actually from Venezuela, kinda cool!!
Last lady I'll talk about is Linda. I'm beyond excited about her as well!! She also hopped on the zoom for church yesterday and loved it! We were able to have a lesson and explain the Book of Mormon and she was really into it. Then also she told us she has 5 kids and said her husband and family would love to learn more! Oh and her mom too wants to listen as well!! I'm so pumped, I've wanted to teach a family so bad!!
I know this is getting long but I gotta give a spiritual thought! The Covid here is way bad, and it's been really interesting to see how some people blame God and others turn to Him. There was one guy in particular that we talked to who was really angry. I had the opportunity to share Mosiah 14:3-5. It talks about the Savior and in verse 4 it says, "Surely he has borne our griefs, and carried our sorrows." It was so powerful to testify that Jesus Christ knows exactly how he, and everyone else in the world, feels in these hardships! He really brings so much peace. Last scripture I'll share is Alma 26:27. I know the Lord supports us in all times! We just have to trust in Him and turn to Him.
Sorry this is so long!! Love you all so much!! Have a great week!!
Mucho Amor,
Elder Jackson
