Hola!!!!!

What up padres!!!!! Staright up felt like I was just writing you guys, this week went by way fast!! Aight so these are just like the notes I took throughout the week, from random thoughts or themes I was thinking about, devotionals, talks, scriptures, just the good stuff I like to think about and focus on. And at the end I put some stories of all the crazy awesome people!!! I love the people so much!!! Missionary work, even just through phone calls/zoom makes me so happy. It's definitely hard but when it's good it is sooo good. 

Monday night call

President Weathersby 

Practice Joy. Practice revelation. Pray. Be obedient with exactness. Unite in prayer and fasting. The miracles of heaven will be opened. Covid will not affect us. Help make commitments so they can make covenants. Thoughts of President Lund. Saviors whole work was to serve his Father as he saved souls. Moses 1:39. D&C 121. Prison temple, apartment temple. Treasure the word. Feast upon the word, ready to use. Find things for yourself personally, companionshp, and ppl you teach.

If we are obedient, and work hard, pray with and work with faith, the Lord will place people in our path. He will prepare people. He will put opportunities in our lap!!!! I know this is true. Opportunities might not always look like a baptism, ammon, but they can be if we still take advantage of them, trust in the Lord, and work. 

Why we serve - President Oaks first talk as apostle. Charity, pure love for Jesus Christ and Heavenly Father should be why we serve. We want to bless God's children and do as our Savior would do. I am here on a mission because I love my Savior!!

Moroni 7:47. Charity. The most important attribute. Something I definitely desire and pray to have more of.

Eter 2-3 el hermano de Jared receives answers to his questions in a few different ways. Has to do his part with the rocks! And then has enough faith to see Christ!! So cool 

Éter 6:3-12. Guau. Muchas lecciones. Each verse is soooo good. Completely trusted in the Lord. Were supported in trials that directed them to promised land and then gave thanks throughout all those trials, and we delivered 

people don’t care about what you know until they know you care. 

Don't worry about numbers, worry about people. Gain trust in members through genuine interest in them. And I like the idea of always trusting in God  Thank you Dad. Just what I needed, as always 

Que hago si hay personas que ya están satisfechos con sus creencias? Creen que tienen todo? 

What do i do when people are already satisfied with the christianity, their belief in God they have? We talked to this one lady who's 97 yr old mom is dying. I guess the old lady to get baptized at one point. Hopefully she will be on the other side. We taught her daughter, shes proñly 60s, the whole plan of salvation but she just said she agreed and wasnt interested in more. She had bible doesnt need book of mormon. Tough bc i know she needs more. But cant overstep her agency. No effort wasted at least.

Love

First thing you ever teach, God is our loving Heavenly Father. So profound. The basis for everything. Everything He does is because He loves us. Gave us His Son. Families. All blessings. Commandments are because He loves us. We keep commandments to show OUR love for Him. 

Pray

Direct, two way commmincation with God. What a gift to be able to pray. Kneel, always kneel whenever possible. Think after, don't just get up and leave. Teach how to pray, it is so powerful. When teaching someone give the simplest pray possible. Wait, ask how they feel. 

Lead to Christ

We are full time representatives of Him. All we should do and say should be about Him. Our goal is to bring people unto Savior.

As we do these things we will have joy beyond ever had, we will feel the spirit, and will truly come to know our Savior.

Elder Pace

How to receive/recognize revelation. I loved this bc this is something I've been really working on. 

1. D&C 6:22-24. Spoke peace to your heart. Comes in feelings of peace

2. D&C 8: speak to your mind and to heart. Both mind and heart

3.  D&C 9: study it out in your mind. Revelation requires effort. 

Really really good devotional, again just what ai needed. 

Ether 12. One of the absolute bests. Verses 6,12,18,13-17,26-27, 28, 34, 39,41. Haha so the whole chapter. But faith, faith and then miracles, his recount of BoM stories, weak things made strong, charity, and then moms fav seek ye this Jesus. Capítulo increíble 

Peoples!!!!

LA FAMLIA DUARTE!!! 

AHHHH I'm so excited about them!!!! We called them, they were just a gray dot on like Friday and they were super nice. We set up a lesson with them for Sunday afternoon. And then we called them Sunday morning to confirm the lesson, and we invited them to church because we were like why not, and she came!!! And thennnn we called her after for our lesson and she was so nice!! We were like how did you like church? And the talk was fire so it was awesome and of course she said she really liked it. But she was like the scriptures she shared (2 Nefi 32:8-9, Eter 12:6, Mosiah 2:41, legit all just so good) weren't from the Bible. So we introduced the Libro de Mormon and explained how they work together to testify of Christ and she said she would want one!! And then we read some and talked about faith and following Jesus Christ and it was super good. And then we asked her about her family and they have 5 kids and she said she they would all love to hear more!! And her mom who is older but sick and whos husband passed away she said she would talk to about learning more. Holy cow I'm so excited!!!! It was just one lesson but I want to baptize a family soooo so bad!!! Ah please pray for them!!

Wowwwww. What a call. Hahahah. Most colorful language I've heard the whole mission. Probably 20 f bombs. Said he didn't believe in God. Hated Christians who support Trump. Why would God let bad things happen like pandemic or bad things to kids like rape or things like that. He was going off at first. But I asked him to stop swearing and let him keep ranting. Said he is an ex convict and already told the cops he's gonna kill a dude, it was nuts haha. But I used grandpas thing, a gentle answer turneth away wrath. And wow did it work. He started talking about his daughter and how much he wants her to have a good life and stuff. And then I read to him Mosiah 14:3-5. Wow it was so powerful. Some of the strongest spirit I've felt on my mission probably. These verses talk about the Savior, that he bore our griefs and pains. I told Him the Savior felt it all, went through it all. Then I promised him if he knelt in prayer tonight he would feel God's love for him and his anger would melt away. We will see if he did it but either way it was a super cool experience

Incredible guy!! Desire to get baptized and is on date. In his 50s. But his health is bad, something with his lungs. He is hard to get in contact with, we talked to him like twice this week and called him multiple times every day haha  but then we found out yesterday he is in the hospital rn. Which is sad, please pray for him to get better!! But I guess at least he wasn't just blowing off our calls haha

Such a funny lady. She's gotta be in her 70s. I talked to her for the first time last week. She was just a gray dot I called. I just asked how she was doing and everyyyy one says "bien, gracias a Dios" haha so I was like yes that is a blessing from God you see healthy! Would you like to talk about God more this week and learn how to better know Him? Maybe read the Bible? And she's like yes I would love to I have lots of questions about the Bible. So we call her like on Tuesday and she didn't answer. But I actually called again and she answered the second time! I guess she was listening to a preacher or something on the radio lol. But she was super excited to talk and asked us a question about some random verse in Isaiah hahahah I had no idea what it was about. And neither did Elder Woods but he ended up making something up and used Corinthians to talk about the kingdoms and turned it into the plan of salvation haha it was sick, she really liked it. And so we called her again a couple days later and did pretty muxh the exact same thing. Guess about Isaiah and then teach some of our stuff. Best part, we go to invite her to church on saturday night and she just wants to talk, like where we are from, family, all that. Then out of nowhere shes like are you guys hungry? And it was like 7:30 and had already eaten dinner so we were like eh were good. But she said no come over right now I am a cook, ill give you some tacos hahaha she was do adament we were like ok deal. And she lives like 2 minutes away actually so we went and got it. It looked intereeting haha i think im going to eat it tomorow tho. But also she came to church!!!!! She saif she couldnt hear super well tho but she ñiked what she did hear! And she offered to feed us again monday night Jajaja

Facebook finding!!! Shes from Venezuela. Super adament i would only share bible stuff with her lol but shes a work in progress. Invited her to church and to releif society but she said she couldnt get it to work on her phone and she wasnt home or something. Prolly an excuse but not a straight up no haha. I found her by commenting a scripture on this christian post and she liked my comment so i friended her and messaged her lol. Oh also this week I joined an El Paso "compra y venda" group, buy and sell haha and put up a post about selling messages of peace and joy. $0.00. Lol one dude was like you deliver and I was like yeah but he didnt say anything after. Some other ppl got mad like what the heck this isnt something to sell hahsh i had a good laugh but probably wont try that again

La familia Velasco 

Such an awesome family!! Well couple haha. They have kids but im pretty sure theyre all grown. They have been inactive for a super long time I guess but are awesome people. They were super friendly when we called. The husband is from chapas, wayy down south in mexico, which is my mtc comp Elder Gonzalez is at so we talked about that a little. And the wife is like a pro cook so she invited us to come eat there when we are free from isolation. And we are calling them back for a lesson this week!!

Also had some other lessons with members, they are all awesome. Iapprectaed dads advice to gain their trust, be sincere and kind and mature. Dont be pushy or insincere. Also had some other lessons with random people. We had like 20 lessons planned w Investigadors which is way good but only had like 9 or 10. But it happens. And also a lot were like first lessons so kinda makes sense. They were like progressing people that just ghosted us. 

All in all seriously a really awesome week!!! Really good thoughts, studies, devotionals and some incredible experiences and people
