Una Semana LOCA

October 26, 2020

Hola a todos!! This week we had some straight crazy things so buckle up!!

First off, we got more details on the added covid restrictions here. We can't go into homes, but we can meet outside in groups of 5 or less. So we are in business! Just had to be a little creative but it's still lit.

Tuesday night we got home from a busy day and all of a sudden we got a refferal! This guy requested a Book of Mormon, the only problem is that he lives on this missile base which is in the edge of our area, like a 45 minute drive, and hard to get into. But some members who live out there said they could drop off a Book of Mormon for us. And we got in contact with him and he's super, super cool!! He met some missionaries on Facebook when he lived in New Jersey, and apparently his brother just recently got baptized. He was talking to the missionaries a lot but then had to go to Korea for a year for his military service and now is stationed here in New Mexico. Really excited about him.

Then, on Thursday we were just doing our comp study, when we decided to do the second half of it outside to shake things up a little. About 10 minutes into it a guy walks by and says "hey can I just say a prayer with you guys?" We said Absolutely!! We pray and get talking he tells us he has traveled the world looking for God but still hasn't found Him like he wants to. And, it get's better, he said he had been praying just that day (which just so happened to be his birthday!?!) to find people who could teach him about God. It was the craziest miracle!! We had another lesson with him on Saturday and it went really well! He was going to come to church yesterday but he actually slept in. 9am was a little too early i guess but definitely still pumped about him.

In other things, we had interviews with President, did some good service pulling out roots of old trees for Don, met a lady in our ward's adorable new baby goat, had some awesome meals, and finallyyy got a haircut.

Lastly, transfer news came out on Saturday. Being 6 weeks out and half way through training, I didn't think much was going to change for me. But nope!! President, and the Lord, have some different plans!! I'm going down to El Paso, in a SPANISH speaking ward!!!! I was absolutely shocked!! I am sad to leave Las Cruces, especially this ward, and all the awesome people I have met. It was sad to say goodbye to so many good people that I thought I was going to have lots more time with. That being said, those who know me know I have a love for Spanish, maybe even an obsession for it, so I am beyond excited to have way more opportunities with it there!! And can't wait to be in the same state as so many of my buddies who are preaching the gospel there as well! And I'll even be in the same district as Elder Hannemann so catch an LP reunion in EP!!

My scripture for the week comes from 3 Nephi 11 when the Savior comes down to the people of Nephi. The whole chapter is super powerful. I especially love how in verses 14 and 15 Christ invites all to come unto Him "one by one." I know that Jesus Christ knows us individually and personally. His love is always extended towards us! It is a joy to be a full time representative of Him.

Love you all so much!!

Amor,
Elder Jackson
